In one of the most memorable moments of the debate between Wisconsin Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde, Hovde confronted her claim that he’s a carpetbagger who lives in California head on.
“Every single one of her ads has been false. So, Senator Baldwin, you claim I live in California, and that I’m not a Wisconsinite - even though, as I said, I live in the neighborhood you grew up. You know, there’s such a thing as a way to prove it. It’s called a utility bill.”
“I have my utility bill,” he said as he pulled a copy out of her pocket. “Let’s get ‘em for the last ten years and see who actually lived in this state” - he continued as a moderator cut him off.
The race between Baldwin and Hovde has been tightening as election day approaches. Back in August Baldwin had a nearly 7-point lead against Hovde in the RealClearPolitics average of polls, which has since shrunk to a 2.5 lead, its lowest point yet.
