While speaking at a campaign event in Philadelphia Joe Biden falsely claimed to have visited the site of the collapsed Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore, which apparently was worth more than the amount of money that exists in circulation, the day after its collapse.
As the Washington Times reported:
President Biden on Wednesday falsely claimed he toured the wreckage of the “$60 zillion” Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, the day after it collapsed, even though he didn’t visit the site until more than a week after the accident.
Biden also pronounced Baltimore as “Balmer” while speaking, though he may have been just trying to pander by pronouncing the city’s name with a Baltimore accent, and not having a mental misfiring for that specific part of his comment. Still, it’s unclear why he would bother with an audience from Philadelphia, though it’s not like much of anything Biden does makes sense.
Biden talked about his administration’s efforts to rebuild the bridge. “The bridge went down over the Chesapeake and we were there the next day, I was with the governor.”
However, Biden didn’t travel to the site until April 5, more than a full week after the incident. At the time, the White House said Mr. Biden had to wait until the area was safe for a visit and until his trip would not interfere with efforts to recover the bodies of the six workers killed in the crash.
Mr. Biden also grossly inflated the cost of the bridge repair, telling the crowd it would take “$60 zillion” to fix the bridge, which is not a real number.
Watch below:
Back in March the Biden administration announced $60 million for emergency work in the wake of the bridge collapse, though the total cost of repairs will undoubtedly be much higher. Maryland estimates that it could cost nearly $2 billion (also known as 2000 zillion dollars) over four years.
