Joe Biden confused the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in his latest gaffe of the day.
While sitting down with MSNBCâs Nicole Wllace, Biden blasted the SCOTUS for banning racist affirmative action policies in college admissions. Biden said that the SCOTUS was âanti-Democraticâ for not doing whatever he wants, and also accused the Court of not embracing the Constitution, before then quoting from the Declaration of Independence.
â[The Supreme Courtâs] value system is different, and its respect for our institutions is different,â Biden said. âAnd in that sense, itâs not as embracing of all, what I think the Constitution says, âWe hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women are created equal, endowed by their creator.â Itâs the uniqueness of America, weâve never fully lived up to it, but never walked away from it. And this court seems to say, âNo, thatâs not always the case.â The idea that thereâs no right of privacy in the Constitution, giving states power that we fought a war over in 1960. You know, I just think this is not your fatherâs Republican Party.â
