Joe Biden lied about lying when asked about his past denials of any knowledge of his son Hunter’s business dealings.
Biden replied with a firm “no” when asked by reported Jackie Heinrich "Did you lie about never speaking with Hunter about his business deals?" She followed up asking "Did you ever speak with Hunter about his business deals?" but it’s unclear if he answered because another reporter shouted a question.
This comes days after the House Ways and Means Committee revealed a WhatsApp message from 2017 in which Hunter Biden allegedly tried to extort a Chinese business associate by name dropping his father who was described as being in the room with him. “I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” the message began. “If I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction,” it continued.
The White House hasn’t had a coherent response to the release of this text, because it clearly shows that Biden participated in Hunter’s business dealings he denied knowing about. So hopeless is the case that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced a mini-revolt in the briefing room last week over her refusal to answer any questions on it.
