As the role of Iran in the recent Hamas terror attacks against Israel, which resulted in the single greatest loss of Jewish life in a single day in fifty years, is becoming increasingly evident, the $6 billion the Biden administration recently sent to Iran for a prisoner swap has been under fire.
A spokesperson for Hamas admitted to the BBC that they received “support” from Iran, which was described as aid in helping plan the attack.
Back in April, Biden’s top envoy for Iranian affairs, Rob Malley, was suspended and placed on leave without pay. Just weeks ago, journalist Lee Smith revealed that Malley allegedly “helped to fund, support, and direct an Iranian intelligence operation designed to influence the United States and allied governments, according to a trove of purloined Iranian government emails.”
While the Biden administration plays defense on that front, by either claiming that the funds haven’t been released yet or are intended for “humanitarian efforts,” they can’t escape the reality that they likely already funded Hamas themselves - and already admitted as much over two years ago.
As Fox News’ Thomas Barrabi reported in May 2021:
A senior State Department official acknowledged that the Biden administration could not guarantee that humanitarian aid meant to support Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip would not be used to restock Hamas’ military stockpiles.
In a speech last week [the week of May 16-22, 2021], President Biden pledged to work with the United Nations and other entities to "provide rapid humanitarian assistance" and reconstruction aid in the Gaza Strip. He noted that his administration would work in "full partnership with the Palestinian Authority" to ensure Hamas did not use the aid to rebuild its arsenal.
Biden reiterated that goal in a statement earlier Monday, declaring that Blinken would lead discussions on the "coordinated international effort to ensure immediate assistance reaches Gaza in a way that benefits the people there and not Hamas."
According to the U.S. State Department, at least nine Americans have been confirmed killed in the Hamas terror attacks over the weekend.
