During his daily gaffe, Joe Biden described the Grand Canyon as one of the world’s “nine wonders” in a speech focussing on his climate agenda.
“Folks, it's not hyperbole to suggest that there is no national treasure — none that is grander than the Grand Canyon,” Biden said. “The Grand Canyon, one of the Earth's nine wonders, wonders of the world, literally. Think of that. You know, it's amazing. An enduring symbol of America to the entire world.”

Biden caught the gaffe, later adding “As a matter of fact, I said nine. It’s one of the seven wonders of the world.” The Grand Canyon isn’t one of the original “seven wonders of the world” (as that list is over 2000 years old), or the “new seven wonders of the world” (which includes locations such as The Colosseum in Rome, Great Wall of China, and Taj Mahal, among others) - but did make the cut for the “seven natural wonders” list - a project launched by CNN in 2008.
Later in the speech he gaffed when misreading the teleprompter, praising the region's “ironic wildlife” when he meant to say “iconic.”
