Biden's $700 Payments to Hawaii Wildfire Victims Is Less Than Their Share of Ukraine Bill

As Joe Biden seeks another $24 billion to Ukraine, the $700 relief payments he’s approved thus far for the victims of the deadly Hawaii wildfires isn’t even enough to reimburse them for their share of tax dollars already sent to Ukraine.

The Federalist’s Elle Purnell ran the numbers and found that:

Those checks, however, won’t even cover each household’s portion of the $113 billion in aid packages the United States has billed taxpayers for the war in Ukraine, which averages almost $900 per household.

After the cantankerous president told reporters he had “no comment” for the Maui victims as he lounged at the beach near his Delaware vacation home, the Biden administration scrambled to do damage control with more updates about help for Maui on Monday. The staffer who runs Biden’s Twitter account — who also apparently runs that of Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre — tweeted that the government will generously be doling out a “one-time $700 payment per household offering relief during an unimaginably difficult time.”

And this is on a per household basis. The disparity in spending in overall terms is astronomical. According to financial commentator Mark Wloninski, Biden’s “$700 checks” offer will cost the government a measly $1.9 million - or 0.00168% of what’s been sent to Ukraine. It’s not even 1% of the $200 million in weapons and equipment the Biden administration approved to send to Ukraine earlier this week.

And also don’t forget that the Biden administration once floated $450k payments to hundreds of illegal alien families separated at the border, only to reverse course after mass public criticism.

The “Critical Needs Assistance,” which will be administered by FEMA, will be available to “applicants who were displaced from their homes and have critical needs,” according to the White House. It’s designed to be put toward water, groceries, and other urgent sustenance. Judging by average grocery costs in Hawaii, $700 would last a family of four just over a week.

Biden had a second “no comment” moment on the wildfires yesterday when asked by reporters to comment on his upcoming trip to Hawaii next week. “No, not now. I’m going to be leaving, and I’ll be there on Monday” Biden responded before walking away. A sycophantic reporter could be heard thanking Biden as he walked away ignoring them.
