After the price of healthcare soared under his watch for the past three years (much like everything else), Joe Biden gave a recent speech where he campaigned on lowering healthcare costs.
Naturally, he tried taking shots at Trump during that speech too.
After claiming that Donald Trump would cut Social Security and Medicare if reelected (something Trump has never said he would do), Biden’s brain broke once again while trying to purposefully misquote Trump.
Biden said to an audience that somehow applauded this; “Folks, we have two ways to go at Social Security and Medicare. Republicans will cut Social Security and Medicare to give us more tax cuts for the wealthy. Even this morning, Donald Trump said cuts to Social Security and Medicare are on the table again. When asked if he changed his position, he said, quote, “There is a lot you can do in terms of cutting….. ‘Tremendous amount of things you can cut.’ [Pause] Let me be precise: ‘Tremendous amount of things you can do,’ not ‘cut’” He said, ‘I will…’ - and…. but the bottom line is, he’s still at it.”
Watch below:
The statement that Biden was doing a poor job of misquoting was about cutting waste and mismanagement in the bureaucracy managing entitlements, not entitlement spending itself. During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box earlier this year, Trump said “There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements…There’s tremendous amounts of things and numbers of things you can do... I know they're [the Biden admin] going to end up weakening social security because the country is weak."
The full response from Trump can be watched below:
When the Biden-Harris Campaign HQ Twitter/X account posted the clip of Trump’s CNBC interview, they cut the clip of his interview when he said “in terms of cutting,” knowing that the rest of Trump’s statement contradicted their narrative.
The Trump War Room account on Twitter/X fired back at Biden’s mental misfire; “If you losers didn’t cut his answer short, you would know President Trump was talking about cutting waste.” But they did know, of course, and were simply being dishonest.
