A hot mic caught one man who will never be president slamming his (now former) opponent who will never be president.

Chris Christie was captured saying that Nikki Haley was going to get “smoked” in the 2024 Republican primary right before dropping out so that he himself wouldn’t get smoked in the primary.

Christie mentioned that Haley had spent more on ads than himself and DeSantis combined with little to show for it; “She's on TV, spent $68 million so far, $59 million by DeSantis, and we've spent $12 [million]. I mean, who’s punching above their weight and who’s getting a return on their investment?” adding “She’s [Nikki Haley] gonna get smoked. And you and I both know it. She’s not up to this.”

Immediately after, Christie confirmed that he too wasn’t up to it, and ended his campaign after maintaining a nearly 30-point negative approval rating during its course. According to the Post Millennial:

Christie announced in a town hall event in New Hampshire on Wednesday that he is dropping out of the race; “It is clear to me tonight that there isn’t a path for me to win the nomination, which is why I’m suspending my campaign tonight for President of the United States,” CHristie said, adding that he’s "going to make sure that in no way do I enable Donald Trump to ever be president of the United States again. And that’s more important than my own personal ambition."

This comes ahead of Iowa’s Republican caucus, which will take place on January 15, and is the first of such to take place in the 2024 election cycle.

Meanwhile, the latest out of Rasmussen Reports confirms what Christie said about Haley, at least when it comes to a head-to-head with Biden:

If the  2024 election was between Biden and Trump, 49% of Likely U.S. Voters  would vote for Trump, while 41% would vote for Biden. Another eight  percent (8%) would vote for some other candidate, but only two percent  (2%) are undecided.

An  election between Biden and DeSantis would be a statistical dead heat,  with 42% voting for DeSantis and 41% voting for Biden. Thirteen percent  (13%) say they’d vote for some other candidate in a Biden-DeSantis  matchup, while four percent (4%) are undecided.

In  a Biden-Haley matchup, Biden would narrowly win, with 38% of the vote  to 36% for Haley, while 21% of Likely Voters would choose some other  candidate and six percent (6%) are undecided.

While Christie himself wasn’t included in this poll, that he was the lowest polling individual in the primary suggests he’d lose by even more than Haley.
