Plagiarist and former Harvard University president, Claudine Gay, is scheduled to teach a graduate-level “Reading and Research” class this coming fall at Harvard.
Gay resigned from her role as president of America’s most prestigious university after she was accused of serially plagiarizing other academics in her published works. Gay still remains a faculty member at Harvard and is maintaining her nearly $900,000 salary.
Gay reportedly taught the same research course in the spring, before the plagiarism accusations. After the cheating scandal, one would think Harvard would have fired Gay or, at the very least, chosen a different professor — one who hasn’t engaged in massive amounts of plagiarism — to teach a research course of all classes.
In a statement to the College Fix, President Michael Poliakoff, leader of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, slammed Harvard’s decision to keep Gay on faculty. “Claudine Gay’s scholarly output is so slim as to raise the question of why she was ever elevated to such a level at Harvard,” said Poliakoff. “It seems utterly inappropriate for her to return to a tenured chair at Harvard, and for her to retain her outsize salary is an outrage to other citizens of the academy. The Harvard Corporation continues to bring shame upon itself.”
The College Fix reportedly reached out to Harvard, asking if Gay planned to address the plagiarism allegations in her current course. Harvard did not respond.
