In a rarity, a member of the Biden administration was called out by a mainstream media host, to their bewilderment.
Squawk Boxâs Phil Kernen pressed Pete Buttigieg on the administration suddenly pretending to care about the border after denying the historic crisis that has unfolded on their watch. Biden made reversing the Trump immigration agenda his main priority on his first day in office, and weâve been feeling the effects ever since. Only once the polling showed just how disastrous this issue is for Biden did they change their tune.
âThe whole move to try to come up with something [on the border] by the administration. That didnât come until it became clear it was going to be a major campaign issue. And only then did the Biden administration get interested in it.â After Buttigieg tried to speak over him, Kernen continued âEvery time we hear those talking points, that âsuddenly it was Republicans who ruined the borderâ thatâs why people get so frustrated. We know what President Biden said about inviting people in. We know that he got rid of all the things keeping the border closed that President Trump had put in. We know that he got rid of all those.â
