Speaking to former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on her MSNBC show, disgraced former FBI director James Comey voiced support for Joe Biden as the only option in the 2024 race - and expressed fears that Donald Trump would weaponize the justice system against his enemies, including himself, if re-elected.
“You said that Trump poses a near-existential threat to the rule of law,” Psaki said to Comey. “And this is similar language to what I hear from national security officials… about what a second term could mean. But tell me the specifics.”
Giving the most ironic response you’ll hear all week, the man whose agency helped push the Trump-Russia hoax during his campaign and throughout his presidency replied “Well, think about what four years of a retribution presidency might look like. He could order the investigation and prosecution of individuals who he sees as enemies. I’m sure I’m on the enemies list. Because the president does constitutionally oversee the executive branch entirely, which includes the Department of Justice prosecutors and investigators. So he could direct that individuals be pursued. He could also direct other kinds of conduct that people might take to court to stop - but who enforces court orders? Mostly the U.S. Marshals service, which is part of the executive branch, which reports to the president.”
