As was inevitable, the Soros-backed Fulton County DA Fani Willis played the race card in response to the allegations she had an affair with Nathan Wade, the top prosecutor in her office who brought racketeering charges against Donald Trump. They are both alleged to have financially benefited from the arraignment.
While speaking at Bethel AME Church in Atlanta, Willis addressed the scandal, questioning the motives behind why Fulton County Commission Bridget Thorne and others criticized her hiring of Wade, claiming she was only being challenged for being a black woman. “Why does Commissioner Thorne, and so many others, question my decision in a special counsel? Lord, your flawed, hardheaded and imperfect child, I’m a little confused,” she said.
She continued:
I appointed three special counsels as is my right to do. Pay them all the same hourly rate. They only attack one.
I hired one white woman. A good personal friend and great lawyer, a superstar, I tell you.
I hired one white man, brilliant, my friend and a great lawyer.
And I hired one Black man, another superstar, a great friend and a great boy. Oh, Lord, they’re gonna be mad when I call them out on this nonsense. First thing they say. “Oh, she gonna play the race card now.”.
But no God, isn’t it them who’s playing the race card when they only question one? Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years?
Amazingly, her comments actually drew applause.

A mere three days after Trump was indicted by Georgia prosecutors last year, Wade was held in contempt for defying a court order in divorce proceedings with his wife, with a judge ruling that Wade wilfully failed to turn over documents about his income to his wife. He has almost no experience prosecuting criminal cases in the Atlanta area, and has never handled a felony trial in Georgia. He had previously served as a municipal judge mostly dealing with traffic tickets.
