The figures for October are out, and they show that there were record encounters (a proxy for illegal crossings) with illegal aliens in October - the highest number ever recorded for an October month.

According to the Washington Times:

Illegal immigration ticked down in October, though it was still the second worst month on record, with Homeland Security recording 309,221 encounters with unauthorized migrants.

The Border Patrol also detected 12 terrorism suspects at the southern border and one caught trying to sneak in across the northern border in October, according to new data released Tuesday.

The 309,221 encounters with illegal immigrants were down 9% from September’s numbers. Most of those came from Border Patrol agents, who arrested 188,778 illegal immigrants at the southern border, down from 218,763 in September.

While this does represent a drop from September, this could simply be due to things such as weather, therefore it makes more sense to compare October from the year prior. It certainly says a lot when it’s simultaneously the case that illegal border crossings dipped in October - and yet were still the second-highest on record, and highest for any October ever.

U.S. border patrol officials reported over 2 million encounters with illegals along the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time ever in the 2022 fiscal year, and there were nearly 2.5 million in the 2023 fiscal year - another record
