Karine Jean-Pierre did everything she could to sidestep a question about whether or not Joe Biden would debate Donald Trump.
A debate between presidential candidates has been standard since the 1970s, and Biden would be breaking tradition if he were to avoid a debate. Thus Biden has to choose between either breaking tradition, or further showcasing his broken brain on the debate stage.
So uncertain has the date of presidential debates been this year that ABS News, CBS, CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News, NBC, NewsNation, NPR, PBS, Univision, and USA Today all signed on to a statement urging Biden and Trump "to publicly commit to participating in general election debates." That’s redundant, of course, because Trump has been on board to debate the entire time, and has constantly challenged Biden to one.
When pressed about this, Jean-Pierre nervously laughed while trying to ignore the question.
“In 2020 do you think the American electorate were helped by seeing Donald Trump and Joe Biden on the same stage, at the same time at a presidential debate? Was that helpful, do you think?” a reporter asked as Jean-Pierre interjected “Oh, now I know where this is going.”
“That’s a question for the American people” Jean-Pierre replied, “I can't speak to that right now… and 2020 was a different time.”
Though the only thing different since 2020 is that now Biden has a (terrible) record he has to defend, and his cognitive abilities have worsened even more since then, making that an impossible feat for him to pull off.
