After dropping out of the presidential race via tweet and then disappearing, Joe Biden gave a “proof of life” call when calling into a Kamala Harris campaign event.
“I know yesterday’s news was surprising and it was hard for you to hear, but it was the right thing to do,” a slurring, raspy Biden said. “I know it’s hard because you’ve poured your heart and soul into me to help us win this thing, help me get this nomination, help me win the nomination and then go on to win the presidency.”
“The name has changed at the top of the ticket, but the mission hasn’t changed at all,” he said.
Later, Harris appeared to almost refer to Biden being on “the recording” before correcting herself and saying “the call.”
“It’s good to hear our President’s voice. Joe, I know you're still on the rec - call…” Harris said, leaving many on social media to speculate that it was a recording of Biden being played, though Biden did respond to what Harris said, indicating that it wasn’t.
Biden still has yet to be seen in person since dropping out of the race - something that apparent zero journalists find odd.
