After avoiding the press for over a month, Kamala Harris finally sat down with CNN’s Dana Bash for a pre-recorded interview with her running mate Tim Walz as a lifeguard. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we later learned they got the questions beforehand, too.
As was the case for Biden, even a softball interview is too much for Harris, and we’re already seeing something of a toned-down “basement campaign 2.0” strategy.
Bash asked Harris the blatantly obvious question of what she would do on day one of her administration - something that everyone that’s done so much as fantasize about what they’d do if they became president has given thought to.
But for Harris, cue the word salad.
“Well, there are a number of things. I will tell you, first and foremost, one of my highest priorities is to do what we can to support and strengthen the middle class,” Harris began.
“When I look at the aspirations, the goals, the ambitions of the American people, I think that people are ready for a new way forward, in a way that generations of Americans have been fueled by hope and by optimism,” she continued, saying absolutely nothing of substance.

Even more concerning, none of Harris’ plans here promise to help us become unburdened by what has been.
So disappointing.
