Vice President Kamala Harris made an awkward gaffe during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Thursday, when she mistakenly claimed to have "stood up to veterans." The incident occurred while Harris was praising her work as Californiaās attorney general. Instead of saying she stood up for veterans, Harris accidently said she had stood up to them, which gave the impression that she was opposing American war heroes.

Realizing the mistake, Harris quickly corrected herself, saying, āI stood up for veterans and students being scammed by big, for-profit colleges.ā Despite the correction, the slip had already caught the attention of the audience. According to the New York Post, āsome in the crowd appeared to groan, while others laughed at the blunder."
The gaffe is likely attributed to a misreading of her teleprompter. Unlike former President Donald Trump, who often speaks candidly and off-script, Harris tends to stick closely to prepared remarks. This has been a strategic decision by her campaign because whenever Harris is unscripted, she devolves into incoherent word salads.
