Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci to be “prosecuted for crimes against humanity” during a hearing of the House subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic Monday.
Greene grilled Fauci over NIH scientists profiting off of the experimental Covid vaccine that they recommended to the American public. "NIH scientists made $710 million in royalties from drug makers. A fact that's been hidden," said Greene. "Is it right for scientists and doctors getting paid by the American people, government taxpayer paychecks to get patents where they're paid millions and hundreds of millions of dollars in royalty fees?"
"Do you think that's appropriate,” she pressed. “Do the American people deserve to be abused like that? Mr. Fauci? 'cause you're not Doctor, you're Mr. Fauci."
Then, Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin interjected to ask the committee’s chairman, Rep. Brad Wenstrup if “we are allowed to deny that a doctor is a doctor just because we don’t want him to be a doctor?”
“Yes, because in my time, that man does not deserve to have a license,” Greene responded. “As a matter of fact, it should be revoked and he belongs in prison!”
Greene isn’t overdramatizing Fauci’s crimes. Indeed, the former NIH director admitted that he lied to the American people when he “made up” Covid rules, such as masking and social distancing during a congressional testimony from January. A transcript of the testimony was made public Monday by House Republicans.
Fauci told Republicans that the six-feet-apart social distancing rule “sort of just appeared” and that he did not recall how it came about. Additionally, Fauci “was not aware of studies” that supported social distancing or supported masking kids. And, as a cherry on top, Fauci admitted that lab leak theory is a real “possibility" after years of claiming it was conspiratorial and unlikely.
Fauci’s lies were not without consequence. As Wisconsin Rep. Tom Tiffany wrote on X, because of Fauci, “businesses, families, students, and our constitutional rights suffered.” Our country will never be the same after the Covid era, which resulted in the greatest violation of essential liberties in United States history. At the center of this dark chapter in American life and the architect of the most totalitarian and anti-science Covid measures is Fauci, and Greene is right, he belongs in prison.
