MSNBCâs Jonathan Capehart struggled to hold back tears during a segment on the third anniversary of the mostly-peaceful January 6 protest.
With former officer Michael Fanone as a guest, Capehart teared up; âMichael Fanone, I'm going to try to get through this. Um. Thank you for what you did three years ago today. Please, tell me your thoughts on this third anniversary.â
âWe are still in the midst of the same fight that began on January 6th, 2021, and we have a lot at stake in this country,â Fanone responded. âI think it deserves every American's attention.â
Watch below:
This came days after a federal appeals court ruled that defendants present in the Capitol on January 6 can be convicted even if they simply passively observed the events going on inside. Meanwhile, the DOJ has announced that its prosecutors are planning on targeting âthousandsâ of January 6 protesters who gathered in ârestrictedâ areas around the Capitol, even if they didnât enter the building.
Itâs even more absurd when compared to the cases resulting from the violent âracial justiceâ riots of 2020 - nearly all of which were dropped. In most jurisdictions, at least 90% of cases were dropped or dismissed, and these were resulting from nationwide riots that left at least 25 dead and caused billions in property damage.
