MSNBCâs Alex Wagner was visibly pained to see a focus group of minorities trashing Kamala Harris as the theory of âintersectionalityâ took yet another yet.
If polling holds, and it generally is biased in the Democratsâ direction to begin with, Trump is poised to win more black votes (as a percentage) than any Republican since 1960. While this has generally been due to a surge in support from black men, black women, who are the Democrat Partyâs biggest supporters by race and gender, are also breaking from the party to some extent. Polling has also been optimistic regarding Hispanic and Arab voters, which Trump may actually win over a majority of.
Crystal Canty, a black woman, was asked by Wagner what she thinks about Harris. Canty replied âIâm not putting her down because sheâs a woman⌠but at the end of the day I donât think she has the personality. I donât think that she has what it takes to go up against Putin. And go up against these other presidents. I donât want to be scared to because by president is scared. I want my president to be manly and secure.â As Wagner questioned whether people being afraid of a woman president, another black woman chimed in that most men love their mothers and wives.
One descendant of a Guatemalan immigrant family complained that the current immigration system is too lax. â"For us, like, seeing the new immigrants come in, itâs just - they are more violent, it is more chaos, they do more bad than anything, and we have been here for longer than them⌠is starting to affect us more, because like, stuff is getting stolen, they are making us look bad, as immigrants, and we stayed longer than them, and we have been getting more misrepresentation because of them.â
Black pastor Philip Fisher, meanwhile, backed Trumpâs calls for mass deportation. "We have criminals in this country who are destroying our nation, they are coming in here, getting earmarked bills, policies to open up businesses, get free housing, get access - easier access than those who are legally immigrating to this country to welfare and other benefits."
