Biden Administration Secretary of Transport Pete Buttigieg blamed airplane turbulence on the “effects of climate change” during an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“The reality is, the effects of climate change are already upon us in terms of our transportation,” said Buttigieg. “We've seen that in the form of everything from heat waves that shouldn't statistically even be possible threatening to melt the cables of transit systems in the Pacific Northwest, to, as you mentioned, hurricane seasons becoming more and more extreme and indications that turbulence is up by about 15%.”

“[Y]ou may notice compared to years ago, more often you'll hear the captain or the flight attendants ask you to keep your seatbelt on even if the light isn't saying that you're required to keep your seatbelt on,” added Buttigieg, insisting that turbulence is becoming “more frequent and more severe than before.”

However, according to a Community Notes fact check on X, turbulence is not becoming “more frequent and more severe.”

“[National Transportation Safety Board] data shows there is no rising trend in aircraft turbulence incidents,” reads the community note. “Adjusting for the increasing number of aircraft flying hours, the trend is actually reducing.”

It’s hard to believe climate fanatics like Buttigieg care about turbulence at all, given that their ultimate goal is to shut down air travel.

The globalist climate organization C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group has a 2030 “target” of limiting air travel to “1 short-haul return flight (less than 1500 km) every 3 years per person.” According to Telegraph’s Travel Correspondent Chris Leadbeater, the move would effectively annihilate the air industry. This means that the plan won't just cut airline emissions, as intended; it’ll eliminate them by shutting down air travel altogether.

Additionally, by the year 2050, the UN wants to ban all flights that do not use sustainable aviation fuels. But even Bloomberg admits that sustainable aviation fuels are not scalable and are wildly expensive. Like C40 Cities’ goal, the UN's sustainable aviation fuels policy will cause many commercial airlines to close and render air travel only affordable to the extremely wealthy.

Ultimately, Buttigieg’s scaremongering should fall on deaf ears. The plot to eliminate air travel and therefore freedom of movement is a far greater threat to the general populace than Buttigieg’s bizarre and untrue claims that airplane bumps are increasing.
