Senator Josh Hawley grilled the director of the Biden Department of Energy’s “Loan Programs Office” Jigar Shah over his alleged conflicts of interest.
Hawley questioned Shah over his appearances at conferences and events, including some hosted by a group that he founded called Cleantech Leaders, where businessmen who could be seeking loans from his office have to pay to be in attendance.
“So you do attend dinners with industry leaders where they pay to see you speak? Was that a yes or a no? I didn’t hear,” Hawley asked Shah, who deflected that he attends “many, many events” that he’s invited to speak at, and some where “people pay to attend.”
