The swamp showed little love for President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, an analysis of Federal Election Commission data has shown.
The Epoch Times examined the FEC data from between 2015-2019, which found that the Department of Justice’s employees have about as much political diversity as Hollywood. DOJ employees had little enthusiasm for Trump who received only 3.4% of all political donations. Trump received $15,000 in donations from only 43 DOJ employees, while Hillary Clinton received $494,081 from 414 of them. Hillary had ten times the number of donors, and thirty-three times the financial backing.
That’s just the presidential race. Donations to political causes were exclusively left-wing in nature.
A total of 1,252 unique donors made 17,103 itemized contributions during the five-year period, according to the FEC, with Act Blue, the liberal funding pass-through organization, being the recipient of choice for 56 percent (706) of them. Act Blue describes itself as “a powerful online fundraising platform for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, progressive organizations, and nonprofits.”
The only disclaimer here (or silver lining?) is that the overwhelming majority of DOJ employees don’t make any political contributions at all, and these donors represent 1.1% of the DOJ’s workforce. That being said – would it really be an improvement if “only” seventy or eighty percent of DOJ donations went to Hillary Clinton if every employee contributed? Of course not. The statistics would simply be less lopsided.
