In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last night, AG Barr cautioned against the chaos mail-in voting is bound to cause in November.
According to Fox News:
Barr said that people who are “trying to change the rules” of voting methodology ahead of November are “playing with fire.”
“This is playing with fire. We’re a very closely divided country here, and people have to have confidence in the legitimacy of the government, and people trying to change the rules to this methodology, which as a matter of logic is very open to fraud and coercion, is reckless and dangerous, and people are playing with fire.”
I suspect the Democrats who are telling us it’s fine to attend massive protests but not safe to vote in person already know this.
Barr cited a 2005 report from the Commission on Election Reform chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker, who wrote that vote by mail is “likely to increase the risks of fraud and of contested elections” in some states.
Blitzer pushed back, saying, “But since then, there have been a lot of investigations that haven’t proved it.”
“No, let me talk,” Barr replied.
Blitzer later posited that there has not been “widespread fraud,” but Barr countered that “we haven’t had the kind of widespread use of mail-in ballots that’s being proposed.”
Just this year 20% of mailed ballots in an election in Paterson New Jersey were rejected as fraudulent and four were charged in connection, 21% of mailed ballots in New York City’s primary elections were disqualified, and Broward County reportedly “misplaced” over 2,000 ballots. Malfeasance aside, we also have to rely on the same government that mailed 1.1 million stimulus checks to dead people to send ballots out correctly.
Mail-in voting would also make it impossible to know who the president is on election day due to the additional time it’ll take to count ballots. And regardless of that election outside, it’s hard to not see the losing side contesting the results and dragging out the election even further.
Since those voting by mail will be disproportionately Democrats, the election would appear to be a Trump landslide on election night even if Biden later came out ahead due to the mailed in ballots. A Trump landslide flipping to a Biden victory is bound to lead to allegations of fraud. A Trump victory is bound to lead to the same allegations of fraud from the left, and we can already see them planting the scenes for that narrative in spreading conspiracy theories that Trump is using the USPS to rig the election.
