In the era of “defund the police” and the anti-cop rhetoric that has accompanied it, the nationwide crime surge is now being accompanied by a surge in ambush attacks against police officers.
According to statistics from the National Fraternal Order of Police, ambush attacks on officers are up 148% so far this year compared to the same time period in 2020. Two hundred and twenty officers have been shot, more than other year since statistics have been kept, and 40 have been killed.
