Two administration sources are telling Reuters that the Biden Administration intends to deliberately bypass American sources of minerals needed for electric cars. Instead of using minerals mined by America, the Biden Administration plans to import minerals from foreign sources. Not only will this hurt American workers, it weakens America by making us reliant on foreign nations for rare minerals that we need for our technology.
Just as an example, earlier this year, China publicly let it be known that they were thinking about banning sales of Chinese rare metals to American firms and perhaps even the United States as a whole if needed. Given that everything from Cell phones to fighter jets needs those metals to function, that’s a big threat. So, why is Joe Biden willing to compromise our national security and hurt American workers at the same time? Apparently, it’s because he wants to appeal to environmental extremists.
According to Reuters:
Biden officials want to ensure the administration’s EV aspirations are not imperiled as domestic mines face road blocks, the sources said, both from environmentalists and even some Democrats.
“It rings hollow when I hear everyone use this as a national defense argument, that we have to build new mines to have a greener economy,” said U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, a Democrat who has introduced legislation that would permanently block Antofagasta Plc’s (ANTO.L) proposed Twin Metals copper mine in Minnesota.
…But the bulk of Biden’s approach is designed to sidestep battles with environmentalists and save capital for other fights, according to one administration source.
The environmental extremists in the Democratic party are utterly and completely irrational people that essentially want to take us back to the dark ages. If these people had their way, they’d get rid of gas-powered cars, domestic air travel, and even beef. These are the same people that demanded Biden shut down the Keystone XL pipeline. Their opposition was not because that pipeline posed any significant environmental threat, it’s because they generally oppose pipelines and that was one that they could stop. It’s that whole, “I don’t need gas, I ride the bus” mentality. Secretly, Joe Biden may agree with them or he may think they’re nuts, but it doesn’t really matter, because he’s their puppet. Too bad he isn’t as concerned about the good of the country he leads as the feelings of a bunch of dirt hippies who would be happy to force the whole country to go technologically backward a few hundred years.
