As if disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home scandal wasn’t bad enough, his replacement just admitted to 12,000 more COVID-19 deaths than had previously been publicized by the state. New York now reports that nearly 55,400 people have died from COVID-19 based on death certificate data submitted to the CDC, up from 43,400 on Monday, a 28% increase.
Once touted as a model for success by the media on the sole basis that they have a Democrat Governor, New York ranks second nationwide in the number of COVID-19 deaths per-capita.

The CDC’s COVID dashboard already had an estimated death toll for the state of this amount, but the Cuomo administration deliberately used a narrow definition of COVID-related deaths to make his administration look better.
