AOC Finally Weighs in on Cuba – Manages to Blame America

Fight tech tyranny. Join Dan on Rumble.

As Cubans began to revolt against the communist regime earlier this week, Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart introduced a resolution to support the Cuban people in their demands for freedom against “the brutal oppression of Communist dictatorship in Cuba.” Not a single Democrat signed on.

It took Biden a day to voice support for the protesters, and Jen Psaki had to be asked three times about them before she admitted that they were in response to the failures of communism.

All members of the socialist so-called “Squad” were completely silent on the protests social media. The Squad members specifically call themselves *democratic* socialists, but that’s just for optics, as is evident by their initial silence on the revolt against authoritarianism in Cuba.

Finally they apparently decided on a narrative, and AOC decided to rip a page out of the Black Lives Matter playbook, publicly speaking about the protests for the first time to promote the bogus narrative that Cuba has only failed because of U.S. sanctions. Apparently communist countries are incapable of surviving without capitalist free trade with America.

According to Fox News:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., broke her silence Thursday on anti-communism, pro-freedom protests that have broken out in Cuba by partially blaming the suffering of “everyday people” on the historical legacy of the U.S.’ 60-year-old embargo.

“We are seeing Cubans rise up and protest for their rights like never before. We stand in solidarity with them, and condemn the anti-democratic actions led by President Díaz-Canel,” the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist said in a statement.

She called the communist government’s suppression of media, speech and protest “gross violations of civil rights.” But she then evoked the United States’ “contribution” to what is turning out to be Cuba’s worst crisis in decades. “We also must name the U.S. contribution to Cuban suffering: our sixty-year-old embargo,” she said.

Even when a foreign regime is violating human rights, she still manages to blame America.
