As New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo continues to battle scandals related to his handling of nursing homes in the beginning months of the coronavirus pandemic and multiple sexual harassment allegations, Conservatives gathered in Florida have had fun taking jabs at the Democratic governor during the Conservative Political Action Conference.

From the New York Post:

A number of rowdy activists were spotted at the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend wearing “Arrest Cuomo” T-shirts.

The red tees, written in a distinctly New York Post font, are a creation of Austen Fletcher, a right-wing social media influencer.

Fletcher said the shirts have been one of the most popular spotted at the annual conservative event:

“I’m from Long Island. I used to work in finance back in 2012. I love New York. I grew up going to the city on the weekend,” Fletcher, 31, told The Post, saying he was inspired to create the provocative apparel after “seeing what Cuomo has done [with coronavirus] and seeing the media muppets protecting him.”

The shirts are available on Fletcher’s website and cost 25 bucks a pop.

“People love it. We wore it yesterday to CPAC,” he said. “Everyone was commenting on them.”

Cuomo was just a few short months ago a darling of the left-wing media and Democratic establishment for his heavy-handed approach to handling the coronavirus pandemic. But the recent scandals surrounding the governor have caused his popularity to wane significantly, with the White House now attempting to distance themselves from the governor who was once pointed to as an example for the country to follow.

Cuomo was also the subject of ire from South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who slammed the governor’s decision to place COVID-19 patients in nursing homes while boasting of her state’s less hands-on approach to the pandemic during her CPAC speech.

“Some even claimed that South Dakota is ‘as bad as it gets anywhere in the world’ when it comes to COVID-19—that is a lie,” Noem said. “The media did all of this while simultaneously praising governors who issued lockdowns, mandated masks, and shut down businesses—applauding them as having taken the “‘right’ steps to mitigate the spread of the virus.'”

“[Stephanopoulos] asked Cuomo to give me advice on how to deal with COVID.  Now seems like a good time to remind everyone of what Governor Cuomo was doing in New York,” Noem continued. “Six days after that, he prohibited nursing homes from sending COVID patients to the nearby Naval hospital ship or the field hospital — Both of which were essentially empty.”

Cuomo also had a second accuser come forward in his growing sexual assault scandal come forward, complicating the governor’s response to the controversy surrounding his COVID-19 response.
