The Democrats have really enjoyed blaming President Trump for all mishaps at the border since he has taken office. It seems they have been struck with amnesia; until last night. National Review reminds us that President Obama was nicknamed the “deporter-in-chief” in 2012 by immigration rights advocates.
Obama “deported or removed over 5 million undocumented immigrants, fewer than the Clinton and Bush administrations did but more than the Trump administration has.” The ‘mainstream media’ would love to have you think crossings at the southern border and deportation is something that only came about the day of Trump’s inauguration.
At last night’s primary debates, however, the Dem on Dem brawls brought us back to illegal immigration in the Obama era. Ironic how when conservatives bring up losing liberal policies it’s lies; when democrats bring it up, it’s fact and used to demonstrate how their ideas are superior to their counterparts.
In this particular case, candidates used Obama’s failed policies in an attempt to castrate former vice president Joe Biden’s lead in the polls. One of the top experts in failed liberal policies, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, asked Biden about private advice he gave to Obama when the “mass deportations” were occurring. “Did you say those deportations were a good idea or did you go to the president and say, this is a mistake, we shouldn’t do it?”
New Jersey senator Cory Booker chimed in and said to Biden, “you can’t have it both ways…you invoke President Obama more than anyone in this campaign; you can’t do it when it’s convenient and then dodge it when it’s not.” Biden declined to share any private comments or conversations with Obama. How convenient.
Moral of the story? R.I.P. “deporter-in-chief.” May the country never forget that the media blatantly turned a blind eye to your handling of the southern border crisis.
