Yesterday, Joe Biden called on Congress to give illegal aliens legal status and get them on the path to citizenship.
Biden said:
Despite the progress our Nation has made since our founding, there is more work to be done to extend the full promise of America to all our people.  Nearly 11 million people in this country are undocumented — and it is time that the Congress acts by passing the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, the immigration reform plan that I introduced on day one of my Presidency. My plan would provide a pathway to lawful permanent residency and citizenship for these undocumented immigrants, including Dreamers, individuals with Temporary Protected Status, farm workers, and other essential workers who contribute to our Nation every day.
The “11 million” illegals statistic is likely a massive understatement, as it’s the smallest estimate of America’s illegal population, and an estimate that has remained unchanged for over a decade. One recent Yale study estimates an illegal population over 22 million.
Biden’s U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 offers extremely lenient terms for citizenship. As the Daily Caller explains:
Under the proposal, illegal immigrants could apply for temporary legal status and for a green card after five years if they pay their taxes and pass criminal and national security background checks. …Three years after obtaining a green card, immigrants would be able to apply for citizenship if they pass additional background checks and understand English, according to the White House. Dreamers, immigrants with Temporary Protected Status and some farm workers may be eligible for green cards immediately after the act passes.
In return for giving millions of illegals citizenship, Biden’s U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 does very little of significance to control the border, which means it would essentially guarantee a permanent border crisis as it inspired illegals to flood into the country, waiting for the next amnesty.
It would also make the country significantly poorer and drive down salaries for the poorest American workers by flooring the labor force. The only winners would be corporate mega-farms and Wal-Marts, which would be in a position to get their fields picked and shelves stocked for a cheaper rate than they currently have to pay American workers.
The Democrat Party would also add an enormous number of new voters, all of whom would be told this is an evil, racist country, and those terrible Republicans are white supremacists for believing that we should have immigration laws. It would also essentially destroy the idea of legal immigration because what kind of sap is going to wait years, spend thousands of dollars and jump through all kinds of hoops to become an American citizen when he can just ignore the rules, come here illegally and not worry about being deported? The Western half of the Roman Empire lost control of immigration and it led to their downfall. Sadly, it seems like America is on track to do exactly the same thing.
