Biden Campaign Opposes Calls to Defund the Police

Despite much of the Left and the Democrat party throughout the country calling for defunding police departments nationwide following the murder of George Floyd, including from a veto-proof majority of the Minneapolis city council and the congressional “squad,” Joe Biden seemingly does not support this insane proposal.

Biden spokesman Andrew Bates stated that “[A]s his criminal justice proposal made clear months ago, Vice President Biden does not believe that police should be defunded. He hears and shares the deep grief and frustration of those calling out for change, and is driven to ensure that justice is done and that we put a stop to this terrible pain. Biden supports the urgent need for reform — including funding for public schools, summer programs, and mental health and substance abuse treatment separate from funding for policing — so that officers can focus on the job of policing.”

Fair enough, but Trump campaign rapid response director Andrew Clark asked the obvious question: why won’t Biden say it himself?

The answer is just as obvious as the question. Biden would lose much of the Leftist Democrat base that he needs in order to win the presidency. But by calling for defunding the police, he’d lose more moderate Democrats. As such, Biden is caught between a rock and a hard place, but it’s clear that the party is driving him on every other issue Biden has run on. There’s no reason to believe that isn’t happening here as well.

As Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said on a conference call with reporters, “[B]y his silence Joe Biden is endorsing defunding the police.”

Remember, Biden is no moderate. And, in reality, there are no moderate Democrats anymore. The Democrat party, no matter who their nominee is, is a threat to the US as we know it.

Keep that in mind come November.
