Biden Says Elon Musk Is "Worthy of Being Looked at" as Potential National Security Threat

Joe Biden once again showed his authoritarian side last night when speaking about the midterm elections as results are still coming on. 

Bloomberg reporter Jenny Leonard asked "Mr. President do you think Elon Musk is a threat to national security? And should the U.S., with the tools you have, investigate his joint acquisition of Twitter with foreign governments, which include the Saudis?"

Biden chuckled before replying "I think that Elon Musk's cooperation and or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at. Whether or not he is doing inappropriate, I'm not suggesting that, I'm suggesting it's worth being looked at, and that's all I'll say."



What Biden is referencing are interests in Twitter owned by funds controlled by the Saudi and Qatari governments, as well as Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who all opted to roll over their ownership into private Twitter shares instead of being bought out in the takeover. The issue of whether this is worth looking at aside, it notably wasn't worth looking at for Biden when Musk wasn't in charge of Twitter, so this is clearly politically motivated. 

At another notable point in the presser, Biden was asked what he was planning on doing differently in the next two years, given that 75% of voters believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, to which he replied that we can expect more of the same.  

"Nothing, because they're just finding out what we're doing," Biden responded, indicating that the trainwreck we've lived through thus was far is just the beginning. "The more they know about what we're doing, the more support there is," Biden continued, just days after his approval rating hit its latest all-time-low with independents.
