Joe Biden’s open border policies are, as expected, proving to be a disaster.
There are now a record-breaking 7000 “kids in cages” being temporarily held in Health and Human Services’ facilities. The previous February record was 5900 in 2019, so this is a large increase. Some of these children showed up with relatives, but the law requires that be verified before they’re allowed to stay together. Others, encouraged by Joe Biden’s policies, arrived with no adult supervision at all.
These kids are being spurred to come here because Joe Biden isn’t deporting anyone, is trying to grant American citizenship to illegals, and kids get special treatment. If a kid shows up here, we’ll pay for their medical care, we’ll pay for their schooling, they may very well be added to DACA down the road and in America’s family-based immigration system, if the sympathetic child gets citizenship, it makes much more likely their whole family will get citizenship down the road.
Incidentally, this is one of the reasons DACA is such a bad idea. We weep for the “kids” (some of whom are literally 40 years old now) and want to make them citizens without realizing it’s likely to mean rewarding the same bad parents who either took their children along while they were committing a crime or worse yet, sent their child off with a coyote to break the law while they stayed home. In a sane world, we’d put these kids on a bus back to where they came from and charge their home countries for any costs we incurred taking care of them. Of course, we don’t live in a sane world. We live in a world where the Democrats are willing to vaporize our southern border and import poverty into the country to get potential new voters any way they can.
