Biden’s Infrastructure Bill Includes $20 Billion to Address “Racist” Highways

Fight tech tyranny. Join Dan on Rumble.

In a bizarre move, Joe Biden has included $20 billion dollars in his $2+ trillion dollar infrastructure bill to destroy “racist” highways.

The highways in question are Interstate 81 in Syracuse, New York, and Claiborne Expressway in New Orleans. The highways are ostensibly racist because they cut through black neighborhoods and some of the people there understandably don’t like it. At this point, there’s no definitive word on whether highways that cut through white neighborhoods will be called “reverse racist” highways and removed although it seems unlikely.

There are also other key issues we don’t know. For example, are all 854 miles of Interstate 81 racist or just the section that runs through Syracuse New York?

As you dig into it, you’ll find that a surprising amount of the infrastructure bill is tied to racial issues.

The proposal seeks $621 billion for transportation infrastructure and resilience, and the administration said that money will go toward redressing “historic inequities and build the future of transportation infrastructure.”

That includes a proposal that would address communities of color that have seen highway and other projects tear through their neighborhoods, such as the Claiborne Expressway in New Orleans or Interstate 81 in Syracuse, N.Y.

A new $20 billion program would “reconnect neighborhoods cut off by historic investments and ensure new projects increase opportunity, advance racial equity and environmental justice, and promote affordable access.”

Last month, the Department of Transportation convened its first equity task force meeting, Christopher Coes, the principal deputy assistant secretary, told White House environmental justice advisers yesterday at their inaugural meeting.

…One of those grants was a more than $800 million highway grant that was reviewed and reenvisioned to include equity and environmental justice criteria as part of that grant, Coes said.

As Matt Palumbo noted earlier today, less than half of the “infrastructure bill” actually goes towards things traditionally defined as infrastructure.

Who would have ever guessed our society would get to the point that roads and bridges would be declared racist? What a lousy world we’re leaving to our kids with this kind of idiocy going on.
