While there are still a number of mostly blue states still working on tallying the numbers as liberals learn how to count, the data thus far shows that Donald Trump gained in every single state in 2024, including the District of Columbia.
Twitter user Christian Heiens compiled the data to show the raw vote shift from 2020-2024, and it leaves no doubt that we did in fact just witness a red wave. To clear up any confusion on what’s being measured here; if Trump won a state by 100,000 votes and then won it by 500,000, that would be a raw vote shift of 400,000 votes.
Note that there’s an asterisk on any states where votes are still being counted.
Three states saw over a million votes shift to Trump. This included California*, where 1,909,237 moved to Trump, New York* where 1,067,560 moved to Trump, and already-red Florida, where another 1,055,401 moved to Trump. Texas, which many liberals hoped would soon turn purple due to immigration, ratcheted back to the right, with 937,681 votes shifting to Trump.
The liberal strongholds of New Jersey (+473,580 for Trump), Illinois* (+413,340), and Massachusetts* (+377,390) also saw notable shifts. While Illinois and Massachusetts aren’t going red anytime soon, New Jersey stands out in that the election there was almost exactly as close (decided by just under 6 points) as it was in the key swing state of Arizona. Biden carried New Jersey in 2020 by over 15 points.
