Special Warfare Operator Chief Eddie Gallagher has been found not guilty of murder and attempted murder after he was accused of stabbing and killing an ISIS prisoner while serving in Mosul, Iraq in 2017.

Gallagher was accused of seven criminal counts total, including, premeditated murder, willfully discharging a firearm to endanger human life, posing for a photo with a casualty, retaliating against members of his platoon for reporting his alleged actions, obstruction of justice, and the attempted murders of two noncombatants.

Fox 5 San Diego is reporting that he was found guilty on one count of wrongfully posing with a body which carries a four month sentence.

Since Gallagher already served 201 days, he “should be able to go home tonight,” according to Fox 5 San Diego reporter Jeff McAdam.

UPDATE: Gallaghers attorneys announced he would be going home tonight.

“Oh yes,” Gallagher’s attorney replied when asked if his client would be going home. “We have a sentencing to do but the maximum sentence is much less than the time they already had him in the brig so he is going home.”
