During an interview on CNN Tuesday, a drag queen who goes by the name “Brigitte Bandit” claimed that “it’s very scary for queer people to exist” in America because conservative lawmakers oppose child genital mutilation and the sexualization of the nation’s youth.

The drag queen interview comes a day after the network cut the microphone of Donald Trump campaign Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt after Leavitt correctly pointed out that CNN’s upcoming presidential debate moderators’ have a long history of bias toward President Trump.

During his interview, Bandit asserted that drag isn’t necessarily sexual when he was asked about a Kentucky bill aimed at protecting minors from sexual performances, including drag. “I could be in a full-length long-sleeved hot pink gown reading a book about Dolly Parton and they’ll still think that something is inappropriate,” said Bandit.

According to Bandit, “Drag and art exist on the same level of appropriateness.” Additionally, drag performers are akin to actors, and their content can switch between G and R-rated. “We exist as actors do in movies where they can do rated R movies and they can also do rated G movies,” stated Bandit. “But you don’t take content from the rated G movies to say that the rated R movies are inappropriate for the actor who has been in both, right?”

Bandit also made the bizarre claim that people who oppose subjecting children to drag performances are “looking” to discriminate against “transgender people” because they can no longer target gay people. “When we see that things like gay marriage is more widely accepted by Americans, they’re looking to target more marginalized queer people. And so they’re targeting transgender people because they are more of a minority group that they can use to push misinformation and this rhetoric to gain their own political power,” said Bandit.

Apparently, a man caricaturing a woman and advocating for child abuse is a respected voice on CNN, but the Trump campaign spokeswoman is not.

This is a reminder for everyone that during Thursday's debate, Trump will be battling Biden and the corrupt propaganda.
