According to a filing from the Special Counsel’s office, Robert Mueller’s witch hunt still has “several ongoing investigations” relating to the Russia probe, according to Reuters.
In a filing with the U.S. District Court in Washington, the Special Counsel asked to delay sentencing for former Trump deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates: “Gates continues to cooperate with respect to several ongoing investigations, and accordingly the parties do not believe it is appropriate to commence the sentencing process at this time,” states the filing.
Gates pleaded guilty in February 2018 to lying to investigators and conspiracy against the United States.
Politico points out that the filing may signal that “Gates may be helping federal prosecutors in New York who are investigating Trump’s inauguration committee, which is facing questions about the source of its donations and how it spent its record haul.”
