The polling is showing the Black vote shifting in Trump’s favor by a historic margin. If polling holds constant and it translates to votes in November, Trump will garner the largest share of the Black vote since Richard Nixon, who won in a 520-17 electoral vote landslide
The Daily Show’s Josh Johnson recently held a panel with Black voters, and was shocked by how many supported Trump.
After pointing out that over 90% of black voters supported Trump’s opponents in 2016 and 2020, he noted that “this year feels… different” before a news clip played reporting on one poll from last February showing Trump polling at 23% among black voters, a nearly sixfold jump since the 4% he pulled in October 2020 from the same poll.
Johnson asked a panel of six Black voters, all from the deep blue tri-state area, who they’d be voting for - and was shocked by their response. While we obviously can’t extrapolate from a sample of six people - it was certainly more than the 23% the polling shows.
