Disney fired actress Gina Carano for an Instagram post she made that compared hating someone over their politics to the way that the Nazis behaved. Reportedly, this is the now-deleted post that cost Carano her job:

After this Instagram post went live, Lucasfilm released a statement saying,
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
While you could certainly make the point that you shouldn’t compare anything to the Holocaust, you’d really have to reach a long way to find something offensive in this post warning people not to hate each other for their political views out of fear that they will end up acting like Nazis. The real issue here isn’t that anyone is supposedly offended, it’s that Carano is a conservative, and Disney is run by people who hate conservatives. After all, are we supposed to pretend that liberals haven’t been comparing Trump supporters to Nazis since the day he declared his candidacy?
The reaction on Twitter to Carano’s unfair firing was acidic amongst conservatives. They also made a number of great points.
Same Movie as @ginacarano, same analogy, though the pic has the wrong date… I'm told it was 2010 under Obama/Biden.
So does @Disney discriminate against women for doing what their male actors do or is is only discrimination against conservatives? https://t.co/D2q9Vo9GQX

Gina Carano was fired for comparing people who live in present day to Nazis. If that's the new standard for firing people, then I would expect A LOT more people to get fired.

LucasFilm sent out a statement accusing Gina Carano of "denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities." This is a flat out lie. Straightforward defamation. She did no such thing. I hope she's preparing her lawsuit as we speak.

Just a reminder: Disney canned Carano for an overwrought Holocaust comparison. They brought back James Gunn despite these tweets. I defended both from cancellation. Would be nice to see Gunn and co. defend Carano. pic.twitter.com/ZiUyLPjmMG

Gina Carano's post made the point that mass violence starts with hatred for your neighbor. This is not only uncontroversially true but also one perspective of the commandment to love your neighbor. That idea is not a call to empty niceness. It's how you prevent suffering.

#3 is trending because people are mad Gina Carano compared something to the Nazis. #4 is trending because people are comparing Josh Hawley to the Nazis. pic.twitter.com/nzyc1dWDqa

#CancelDisneyPlus also trended in reaction to Carano’s firing and there were some people following through on that.
We canceled our @Disney subscription tonight. @ginacarano pic.twitter.com/np8opCzShE

This is a healthy thing and we should see more of it.
Ironically, because liberals endlessly blather on about tolerance, it’s the tolerance of conservatives that allows cancel culture to thrive. Corporations look at the political landscape and notice that liberals are highly intolerant and hair-trigger sensitive, while you can practically spit in the face of conservatives and they will keep giving you money. So, if you’re a corporation, you may reason that you will make more money by catering to liberals and pushing out conservatives, who won’t retaliate. The only thing corporations understand is the bottom line. When they start losing money because of boycotts or regulations, they will respond. If you’re sick and tired of seeing conservatives targeted by these corporations while liberals get a pass, cancel Disney Plus. When you pay money to corporations that hate your guts, it makes you part of the problem.
