Donald Trump Jr. Calls for Romney to be Expelled from GOP

Donald Trump Jr. has called for failed presidential candidate, Sen. Mitt Romney to be expelled from the Republican party after he announced he’d vote to convict President Trump in the sham impeachment trial.

“Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now. He’s now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the @GOP,” Trump Jr. wrote on Twitter.

His call to kick Romney out of the party came after the Senator announced on the floor his plan to vote to convict the president.

“The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the president committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a ‘high crime and misdemeanor,'” Romney said in a speech on the floor earlier today. “Yes, he did,” the Senator continued.

In an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Romney said of his vote, “I know in my heart that I’m doing what’s right.”

He continued, “I understand there’s going to be enormous consequence. And I don’t have a choice in that regard. That’s why I haven’t been anxious to be in the position I’m in. When I heard there was going to be an impeachment investigation, as I heard the evidence coming forward, I dreaded the responsibility I’d have. But I was not willing to abdicate the responsibility given to me by the Constitution, nor to ignore my conscience out of personal and political significance, considerations. I had to follow my conscience.”

Trump Jr. isn’t the only one calling for Romney’s ouster from the GOP.

Dan Bongino is also calling on the GOP to kick out the two-faced senator, tweeting, “Romney should be IMMEDIATELY thrown out of the GOP. He’s a fraud and a sell-out without an ounce of character or integrity. Let the Democrats have this life-loser, we don’t want him.”

In another tweet, Dan said, “Romney must be expelled from the GOP. He’s obviously a snake and a fraud. This loser belongs with the Democrats and history will mock him for falling for this obvious hoax. He’s a disgrace to the US Senate and the great state of Utah.”

The Senate voted earlier today to acquit President Trump. The abuse of power charge was voted down 52-48 and the final vote on the obstruction of justice charge was 53-47.

Romney voted “guilty” on the abuse of power charge and “not guilty” on obstruction of justice.
