Elon Musk had some choice words for the advertisers who fled his X/Twitter platform and demanded changes to return.

In demonstrating the meaning of “F– You Money,” Musk, the wealthiest man on Earth, told advertisers blackmailing him to their faces at the 2023 DealBook Summit that he doesn’t want them anyway. A handful of prominent advertisers ditched X after a bogus report from Media Matters falsely claimed their ads were appearing next to antisemitic posts - leading to both a lawsuit from Musk against Media Matters and an investigation from Texas AG Ken Paxton.

“If somebody’s going to try to blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f---yourself. Go. F---. Yourself. Is that clear?” Musk said to host Andrew Ross Sorkin. Musk then singled out Disney CEO Bob Iger, who was in the audience; “Hi Bob!”

Some hilariously awkward silence ensued, and Ross Sorkin was clearly stunned by the answer, presumably expecting Musk to have caved to the pressure and begged for those advertisers to return.

Musk went as far as to imply that his followers would simply boycott the companies boycotting Twitter/X as a consequence of their choice. “The whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company and we will document it in great detail.”

He then again reiterated that they should go *four letter word* themselves.
