Fauci a No Show at Hearing on COVID-19 Origins

Dr. Anthony Fauci took a detour from “following the science” when it came to a recent hearing on the origins of COVID-19, the virus which the left has anointed him to sainthood over.

Yesterday during the hearing, former President Donald Trump’s COVID-19 testing czar Brett Giroir said that the most likely origin for the pandemic was an accidental escape from the Wuhan Lab. “I assess that the most likely origin was an accidental infection of laboratory personnel from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, with secondary transmission to the local population and subsequent spread to hundreds of millions of people around the world.”

He continued; “There is now an increasing body of circumstantial evidence pointing to a lab leak origin of the virus. The bottom line is: I believe it’s just too much of a coincidence that a worldwide pandemic caused by a novel bat coronavirus that cannot be found in nature started just a few miles away from a secretive laboratory doing potentially dangerous research on bat coronaviruses. Sometimes, the most obvious explanation is indeed the correct one.”

According to the New York Post:

Dr. Anthony Fauci — who has faced a wave of scrutiny in recent weeks over criticism that he flip-flopped on his messaging on coronavirus rules and mandates, including mask wearing — declined to appear.

Criticism of Fauci intensified earlier this month after thousands of his emails were released from his time advising Trump.

Those communications showed that Fauci was warned early on that the deadly disease may have been “engineered” and could have originated in a Chinese lab. Despite this, he quickly dismissed the theory to the public.

Asked about the nation’s top infectious diseases expert refusing to testify, Rep. Steve Scalise told The Post it was “disappointing.”
“Dr. Fauci needs to testify so we can find out what he knows about the COVID origins investigation, and we hope he will come before Congress soon to provide the American people with much needed answers,” he said.

In addition to Fauci, no Democrats attended the hearing either.

Biden ordered a review of COVID-19 origins last month, with the lab leak theory as one of two dominant theories. That come not long after Biden had previously shut down a Trump-era State Department investigation into the Wuhan lab leak theory.
