House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has officially done a complete 180 on his rhetoric regarding impeaching President Joe Biden - and now he’s on track to green light an impeachment inquiry as early as this week.
According to the Post Millennial:
McCarthy plans on endorsing an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, and is expected to tell members of Congress this week. Sources familiar with the matter say he sees the move as a "logical next step" in the investigation into the president and his son.
Details will be provided to lawmakers by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer during the House Republican Conference on Thursday, the first time the group will meet after the August recess.
"It only raises more and more questions, and we're gonna have to find the answers," McCarthy said on Monday, referencing recent revelations about the president's conduct. "This is all information that just has been coming forward that we've been able to find out, but the other information is we find that the Biden family delays everything. It benefits them to delay the information. The American public deserves to know."
The obvious question remains: what in the world took so long?
A headline over at the satirical publication the Babylon Bee back in July put it best - and seemingly predicted the future once again: “McCarthy Says 783rd Impeachable Offense By Biden Will Be The Last Straw.”
UPDATE: Since publication, McCarthy publicly backed a Biden impeachment inquiry. “Today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public,” McCarthy said at a press conference. The inquiry will be led by James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith.
