Fleeing Texas Democrat Supported ID Requirement at Local Event

Fight tech tyranny. Join Dan on Rumble.

In their fight against fictitious “voter suppression” efforts, over fifty Texas House Democrats attempted to derail the passage of common sense voting bills by fleeing the state to break quorum.

As for what exactly the “threat to democracy” these Texas Reps. now face arrest over when they return is remains unclear, as was evidenced by a particularly amusing interview with one of them who couldn’t actually name if new GOP legislation would prevent a single person from voting.

Voter ID is overwhelmingly popular among voters of both parties and independents. Recent polling has found 80% support for voter ID, with 62% of Democrats, 87% of Independents, and 91% of Republicans backing it. Only Democrat leadership, and the liberal pundit class opposes it.

At least one these fleeing Texas Democrats is OK with ID when they aren’t participating in political theater. According to the Daily Wire:

Last September, one of those Democrats, state representative Erin Zwiener, commenting on a neighborhood cleanup in Kyle, Texas, supported residents using a photo ID or local utility bill to identify themselves.

She tweeted, “Hey y’all, the city of Kyle is hosting a neighborhood clean-up from 8 AM-1130 AM tomorrow morning at Gregg-Clarke Park. Kyle residents will be required to: Bring a photo ID. Bring a City of Kyle Utility bill. Be prepared to help unload at the drop site. Wear a face mask.”

After that old tweet was dug up, she fired back “Want to know how desperate Republicans are? A right wing site is about to use this tweet as evidence that I’ve organized events that require ID. Never mind that: 1. I didn’t organize this event. The City of Kyle did. We just shared, as we do. 2. HB 3 isn’t about voter ID.” No word on why she didn’t speak out against the “oppressive” and “disenfranchising” ID requirement at the time.

She also said that Texas’ House Bill 3 doesn’t have anything to do with voter ID, but the other bill they’re trying to thwart, Senate Bill 1, does boost ID requirements on mail-in ballots by requiring voters to include a driver’s license number, or four digits of a Social Security number on a vote-by-mal application.

When the Washington Free Beacon attempted to reach Zweiner for comment, they say that she attempted to distance herself from the tweet, and lied to them about her identity before handing up at the mention of her name.
