Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre managed to tell the truth about gas prices, albeit unintentionally before "correcting" herself.
As the national average gas price hovers near $5 a gallon, Jean-Pierre struggled to give an answer on what Biden is going to do to reduce prices: "The president has been very clear in making sure that he does everything that he can to elevate—to alleviate the pain that American families are feeling when it comes to gas prices."
Watch below:
She was right before she "corrected" herself.
While the president isn't solely responsible for gas prices, Biden is no innocent bystander like he pretends, and his administration's actions that impact gas prices have all been policies that increase them. The administration has taken countless steps to limit domestic production, including halting federal permits for oil and gas drilling and leasing after he took office, and blocking drilling in an oil-rich region of Alaska. The Biden administration has also proposed and implemented burdensome regulations on the oil industry and adopted new EPA oil and gas rules.
The entirety of the administration's public rhetoric on the oil industry has only been negative, and many members have encouraged Americans to circumvent high gas prices by "simply" spending tens of thousands of dollars on an electric car while not even pretending there's anything they want to do to reduce them.
