Elon Musk triggered the pundit class again this week for daring to criticize billionaire liberal mega donor George Soros, who has been making headlines in recent years for his unrelenting war on law and order in America by funding the election of rogue pro-criminal district attorneys.
Earlier in the week Musk tweeted out that Soros reminded him of Magneto, the X-Men supervillain who “'fights to help mutants replace humans as the world's dominant species.” In response to someone defending Soros, Musk doubled down, writing back that Soros wants to “erode the very fabric” of civilization, and “hates humanity.”
This, of course, isn’t remotely controversial to anyone who knows anything about Soros, but Musk was still met with an avalanche of hysteria on social media by leftists who know better.
The tweets were brought up last night in an interview CNBC had with Musk at Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, where the host appeared astonished that Musk would even consider speaking his mind about this.
“I said he reminds me of Magneto. Calm down people, let’s not make a federal case out of it,” Musk told CNBC’s David Faber.
“You said he ‘wants to erode the very fabric of civilization’ and that he ‘hates humanity,” Faber replied.
“That’s right, that’s my opinion,” Musk said.
“Okay, but why share it?” a somehow bemused Faber asked.
“I mean, uh, freedom of speech, I’m allowed to say what I want,” Musk said.
“You absolutely are, but I’m trying to understand why you do, because you have to know it’s gonna, it puts you in the middle of the partisan divide in the country, makes you a lightning rod for criticism,” Faber said. “I mean do you like that? People say ‘oh he’s an antisemite,’ I don’t think you are.”
“No, I’m [definitely not],” Musk said. “I’m a pro-Semite.”
