Google to Cut Off Ad Money to Sites Challenging Official Narrative on Climate Change

The censors are now at least being transparent – and that’s about the only nice thing to be said about them.

Google, which controls a third of the U.S. digital ads market, is now going to be censoring what they call “false information on climate change,” which really just means “what Google considers false information on climate change.” The censors incorrectly (though deliberately) censored the since-verified Hunter Biden laptop story, credible Wuhan lab leak theory, and countless other things they got wrong. Of course, the goal here isn’t to actually censor misinformation as it is to prevent the spread of information that challenges progressive orthodoxy.

According to Google, their update will “prohibit ads for, and monetization of, content that contradicts well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change. This includes content referring to climate change as a hoax or a scam, claims denying that long-term trends show the global climate is warming, and claims denying that greenhouse gas emissions or human activity contribute to climate change.”

The anti-free speech left is celebrating the update, of course. And it goes without saying that this will be used a trojan horse to deprive right-leaning websites of ads entirely as if even a single article out of thousands challenges the conventional wisdom, they’ll pull ads from the entire site. Fortunately there’s the other 70% of the ad market that isn’t doing this.

People like Nandini Jammi, perhaps best known as one of the top Karens/hall monitors on Twitter who devotes her free time to whining about businesses placing ads on websites that she doesn’t like, is already on the case. (I say “free time” as I assume Nandini does have a real job – but if not I apologize for her sad circumstances in life).

She’s already reaching out to Google about violators – and Google is writing back to assure her that it’ll be taken care of. Again, they may be terrible, but at least the censors are transparent now.

Hilariously, Nandini regularly boasts about the advertisers she’s cost certain publications, without realizing that most of them use ad aggregators and have a new advertiser immediately to replace the former, because she doesn’t seem to know much about how ads work. In other words, she’s having no net impact unless a publication is individually sourcing their ads, but spends hours a day convincing herself she is.

She formally co-ran a group called ‘Sleeping Giants,” but had to depart because according to her account she’s a terrible judge of character and apparently ended up in business with a “sexist” business partner.

Nandini is highly active on social media, yet always stops responding to her political critics when they point out to her that the people she associates with spout the exact same kind of rhetoric she’d try to “cancel” them over if they were on the right. Among them are her friend Angelo Carusone from Media Matters, who has a history of anti-semitic, racist, and transphobic comments, and her other friend Chad Loder, who was recently served a restraining order for allegedly violently threatening and harassing someone.

Nandini has helped launch a campaign with Loder against The Post Millenial because their reporter Andy Ngo covered the allegedly violent Loder’s restraining order. The Post Millenial’s editor-in-chief has confirmed to me that Nandini and Loder’s campaign has thus far cost them an entire net-zero ad dollars.

Anyway, for anyone looking for some “alternative” perspective on climate change, the think tank Just Facts has some good resources.
